Tye Dillinger vs. Aiden English (Kickoff Match)
These two have faced off twice before in recent weeks. I’m bored, we’re all bored, Dillinger wins. (SPOILER: this may become a theme throughout)
Mike Kanellis vs Sami Zayn
Why does the WWE give away good to great matches before a PPV? Whilst the storyline has been largely entertaining going into this their match on Smackdown as ruined the mystique. I expect Sami Zayn to get his win back in a good match with little or no repercussions.
Shinsuke Nakamura vs Baron Corbin
Statement: the WWE has a habit of holding stars back with poor booking and boring feuds. Evidence: Shinsuke Nakamura’s continually boring storylines and this match.
Rusev vs John Cena in a flag match
I challenge any aspiring or professional dirt sheet writer to write something that your readers will find interesting here. I could write the outlandish headline of Rusev winning here, but we all know that Super Cena is going to beat him with the five moves of doom. (To be clear, I AM a John Cena fan when placed in a non-predictable feud)
The New Day vs The Usos for the Smackdown Tag Team Championships
For me, the Usos are too hot right now to move away from the title picture. I truly see Breezango joining and beating these two teams in a triple threat at Summerslam, and in doing so, pinning the heel Usos. I see the Usos winning through devious means, my moneys on the tights.
Smackdown Women’s Championship Fatal Five Way No. 1 Contendership Match
Recently Dave Meltzer attempted to make “news” by stating that his sources have informed him that the WWE has been using multiple women matches to avoid writing detailed storylines. Per my eyes, this is NOT news: the WWE has made no effort to give these women storylines.
A feud between Becky Lynch and Charlotte was teased heading out of this but Naomi still holds the belt, so why would they pull the trigger on that so soon? I see Charlotte winning and taking the belt from Naomi at Summerslam.
Kevin Owens vs Aj Styles for the United States Title
My main event! Creative has muddied the waters lately by removing the anti-America parts of Kevin Owens gimmick, a shame since he does it better than both Rusev and Jinder Mahal. With that said, these two will steal the show with a thirty minute masterclass. As Styles will win, going on to face the aforementioned heels in the American super hero role.
Randy Orton vs Jinder Mahal in a Punjabi Prison Match for the WWE Title
In light of this match I went back to watch the previous Punjabi Prison matches. Whilst the structure looks daunting, the matches quickly decapitate into a slow, poor version of the already poor cage match. Jinder Mahal wins and goes on to lose to John Cena at Summerslam.
I hope you enjoy this PPV, I really do…
